On Saturday Jen and I took a drive out to the Bay Roberts area and hiked out to Green Point to see this lighthouse.

Jen and I went down to the gut Wednesday evening after work to see the two large icebergs that had come in. These ones are much more impressive than the flat sheets that have been around so far this year.

At the last Camera 35 meeting, Dave asked me if I had ever tried using extension tubes on the 100-400L. I hadn’t, but didn’t have a really good reason why other than I hadn’t thought to, so I figured that I should try. ?This was taken from around 4 feet away, with a 21mm extension tube–I’d say the combination worked pretty well.

In what was the first time in ages, we went out to take a few photos today at Cape Spear. While we were there we came across a flock of birders gathered around watching these little guys.

We went back to Laurie Beach again on Saturday to shoot the river flowing down into the ocean there.

I got a couple of decent images from this trip, and then started playing with my IR-converted camera to see what I could get from that.

Jen and I went out to Laurie beach Wednesday night for a sunset shoot to break us out of our summer slump. I managed to get a couple of keepers out of the trip, hopefully it’ll be the start of much more frequent shooting and posting.

Jen and I spent this past weekend in Ontario for a wedding. We didn’t do much photo-wise, but we did manage to sneak in a trip to Niagara Falls, and out on Maid of the Mist.

While on the Camera 35 trip to St. Mary’s, we stopped in Branch to see the sheep, horses, and some of us saw some interesting birds.

As a break from the birds, here’s a landscape of Point Lance Beach, near St. Bride’s, NL.

This little guy was circling us for a good twenty minutes at Ship Cove, on the way back from St. Mary’s. It must have been something to see, no less than six of us lined off on the side of the road with our longest lenses, all trying to shoot this little bird (and it’s friend).

He didn’t stay in one spot for very long, so I captures a number of frames with no bird as well. I did also manage to catch one slightly blurred one just as he took off.
